Well, I finally finished my 3rd Sargent painting for the VAC's Fine Arts Festival. Just in time I might say. I'm not pleased but it will have to do. I truly am not a Portrait painter and sure coul stand some lessons although, I must admit the picture I had to work from was very fuzzy -- so my painting came out "Fuzzy"!

Framed
I'm posting the Framed "Rosie Marie Louise ". I even had the name wrong. But you will see, as I said when you take a snapshot, if you don't know how to take it properly you will get the flash on the glass -- as I did, but it isn't that bad, so I'm posting it so you can see how she looks in the frame.

Charcoal Painting Done
I finally finished my Sargeant Charcoal Rosie Louise. I've posted her here unframed because I put er under glass and when I take the picture it would cause a reflection becuase I am not a good photographer and don't know how to take good photographs . Some day I will learn how to do that. Any way here she is for what it is worth. Now on to the protrait. Don't know how I'll do on that one. It looks pretty tough as usual!

Just Another WIP
Just got back from the West Coast and will have to get started back on my Sargent's charcoal. I left "Rosie" at this stage which I am posting here. I have some more work to do that is for sure. We are all hurricane shuttered in so I am working only under lights. I hope when I finish her and start to work on the third painting I can remove the shutters on the windows because I must have light to do an acrylic portrait!!

Another WIP
I have started on number two painting for the Fine Arts Festival only this one is a Charcoal drawing Sarargent did of a young girl. . Her name was Rosie Marie-Louise Derenburg. I think she was very pretty. Perhaps he did this pencil, charcoal of her first before he did her portrait -- but I haven't come across her portrait yet-- but I really haven't searched that much. Haven't had time yet. I'm enjoying doing this drawing after doing the "Village Children". The next one is really going to be a challenge though because it is one of those perfect portrataits. I may get very frustrated!!! We'll see. I'll have to finish this one first and see how satisfied I get with this?!!!

Finished First FAF Painting
Well, I think I've finished "The Village Children" except for signing it and putting it securely in the frame and the wire on for hanging and a little spray I'm done. What a wild painting! This is nothing like his potraits which are very fine and detailed. This is somewhat like his watercolors just devil may care. All kinds of color splattered on in a hap-hazzard manner--- actually,
I had fun with it after I allowed myself to let go. But I was trying to follow his pattern and that was a bit hard. Sometimes I didn't and I had to let myself go but for the most part I stuck to his painting. I tried to at least. Hope you like it.

New Painting
Well, I thought I had posted something the other day but apparently it never got posted, so I'll try again. It's that time of year again and the Visual Arts Center of Punta Gorda, FL is having their Fine Arts Festival (FAF). This year the artist they are honoring is John Paul Sargent. I really do admire his work. I plan to do three paintings if I can. Two Acrylics and one charcoal. I'm working on an acrylic right now and hope to finish it before we go out to Oregon to see my son and family. It is called Village Children. It looked easy-- but of course it is not-- as usual. What looks to be simple generally turns out to be more difficult than it looks. I'm posting here the work in progress. I'll post when finished.

New Co-Op
It has been so long since I have posted anything. Things have changed so much I hardly recognize the site. Well, anyway, I'm posting this good news and hope my followers-- if there are any will get it. A new co-op has been formed: go to www.arcadiaoperahouseartists.com and see the most beautiful site and artists group you'd ever want to see. A group of women just trying to get started up in the old opera house in Arcadia. Take a look. We have 10 artists we are looking to get 4 more then that should complete our group. Take a peek!!
